Prayer and the Interior Life
Chris Berglund (Teaching)
The choices that we make to love Jesus, to worship, there's things happening around you - there's colors, sounds,
brightness. You're releasing power into the atmosphere, and it's displacing the enemy. When you choose to enter
into an atmosphere of worship and praise, you affect the realm around you for eternity.
Every choice you make affects eternity, God has put us in a place where every word, every thought counts. Every
time we choose to be jealous or envious, or not like somebody, we're making a choice to shape who we are. If you
say "I'm going to choose to live", there's a purifying in your soul. The same thing happens
If you are crying out to God to enlarge your heart, that's a good prayer. But God is saying, make the right choices
and I'll enlarge your heart.
God's intention and purpose is not for us to live in outward revival. When God comes for 5 or 10 years and lifts, it's not because He's displeased with us, it's because he wants voluntary love.
If we had revival from here on out, it wouldn't touch His heart because He's looking for a heart that continually lives in love with Him voluntarily.
"Is it okay if Jesus wanted you weak today for His glory?"
If we're unconcerned about the temple, all we're doing is proclaiming prayers and declarations, and it's still vomit to God. If God can just find a friend who can whisper to Him coming from His heart, He can move mountains. He's interested in our interior life.
2nd Samuel 5:18
18 Now the Philistines had come and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim; 19 so David inquired of the LORD, "Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?"
The LORD answered him, "Go, for I will surely hand the Philistines over to you." 20 So David went to Baal Perazim, and there he defeated them. He said, "As waters break out, the LORD has broken out against my enemies before me." So that place was called Baal Perazim.
Do you know why David was a man after God's own heart? He "had it in his heart to make a place of dwelling, a resting place, for the Lord."
We enter into rest when we cease from our own labors. We keep trying to do something for God, but God's saying, "I just want you to be with me, and then I'll reveal my heart, my secrets, to you."
We never know what it is that God wants us to do. That is why we need to come before Him every day and ask Him what He wants to do with us.
The most important thing is to abide.
Jesus' last words before the cross: "I'm leaving, but you need to abide."
"If you want to abide in Me, abide in love. If you abide in Me as my friend, then you will ask me anything in My name and it will be done for you."
To abide means "to stay in perfect rest". It's not in activity. Abiding means when the Father moves, I move. It's staying when He's staying, and if He's moving us to a fast, we fast. Faith in works is love.
The activation of faith is produced in the atmosphere of love. If we're in this prayer room and there's jealousies and selfish ambitions, there will be no atmosphere of faith, because faith is in love, and there's no love in dissensions.
As we're listening for the Lord, we can release the anointing into other people. We won't get the credit for it, and isn't that good!!!
Gnosis - intellectual understanding
Epi-Gnosis - spiritual encounter
Ephesians 1:17
17I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit[a] of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
This is epi-gnosis that Paul is praying for.
We can be Jesus' friend. If we walk with Him, that is all we need to be. If all that God's called me to do is to be a hidden person, the hidden one who no one will ever know about, and has touched god's heart, then that is what we must be able to rest in. No matter how many times it takes, God wants to keep speaking to us who we are supposed to be
If we're not called to wear Saul's armor, we can't do it just because it looks good.
Have you heard the Lord say to you that you're His favorite?
You can be as close to Jesus as you want to be. He's longing for that friendship.
There's got to be two signers on the check.
There's going be a time when the Lord comes through the church and he destroys every piece of jealously, because it's ripping us off.
Every time I say something that comes against someone else, we're coming against the work of the cross, we're defiling what God's paid for. He will not tolerate this for long.
"Your thought life is your secret history with Me." My life will be judged according to my thought life. Jesus, I want to love like You love. I don't want to defile the Bride anymore.
Every time we think evil, speak evil, we are defiling the Bride of Christ, and it's not okay with Him. Speak kindly to on. Everything that's creating an atmosphere that doesn't release faith must be judged. Every time you speak an idle word, it's going to do two things: if only you hear it, it's going to defile you, and if someone else hears it, it's going to defile them. We've got to come into a place where we say, we're going to live with an open heart, a soft heart with people, where we won't say anything against them, where we won't react with jealousy and contention.
If you honor someone else's gifting, you make room for the Lord to honor your gifting: that's just how it works.
Bethany - If we walk exposed before God, we will walk exposed before of man, because there is no fear in the place of purity. We must be able to stand and let the eyes of the Spirit search us to the core, because we walk daily in the place of openness before God.
